Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) – Procurement
We are looking for a motivated Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) – Procurement to begin a career in procurement and supply chain operations within the metal recycling industry. The selected candidate will support sourcing, vendor coordination, quotation analysis, purchase orders, material follow-ups, and procurement activities while gaining practical exposure to industrial procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in day-to-day procurement and purchase activities.
- Support sourcing of raw materials, mechanical components, consumables, spare parts, and industrial items.
- Identify and communicate with potential suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain and compare vendor quotations based on price, quality, and delivery.
- Assist in preparing purchase orders and procurement documentation.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding order confirmation and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with stores, production, maintenance, finance, and other departments.
- Maintain vendor records and procurement databases.
- Assist in vendor evaluation and development activities.
- Support negotiations with suppliers under senior guidance.
- Monitor material requirements and support timely procurement.
- Prepare purchase-related MIS reports.
- Assist in identifying cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.
- Ensure procurement documentation is properly maintained.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
- Mechanical engineering knowledge and technical understanding.
- Good analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Good vendor coordination and follow-up skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and ERP/procurement software.
- Strong learning attitude and willingness to develop procurement expertise.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Freshers/GET candidates are eligible.
- 0–1 year of experience in procurement/purchase will be an advantage.
- Interest in building a career in procurement and supply chain.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical components, industrial materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Good communication and computer skills.
