Foundry Industry
Profile- Foundry Quality Engineer
Qualification – B.Tech / Diploma- mechanical
Experience – Min. 5+ yrs. in foundry industry as a quality engineer hands-on expertise in melting, heat treatment, sand plant operations, and moulding processes.
Location – Bhilai

Ensure consistent casting quality by implementing, monitoring, and improving quality control processes across the entire foundry value chain — from raw materials to finished castings.
Melting (Furnace Operation)
Monitor charge materials and their proportions.
Ensure correct metal chemistry using spectrometer or thermal analysis.
Enforce SOPs for temperature control, pouring practices, and slag removal.
Address defects related to inclusions, shrinkage, or gas porosity.
2. Sand Plant
Oversee sand preparation — moisture content, compactability, permeability, and grain fineness (AFS).
Inspect sand-related defects: metal penetration, burn-on, sand inclusion.
Maintain calibration of testing equipment like universal sand strength machines.
3. Moulding
Audit mould hardness, dimensional accuracy, and core alignment.
Ensure pattern equipment maintenance and alignment.
Root cause analysis of defects: misruns, cold shuts, shift, etc.
4. Heat Treatment
Validate cycle parameters: soak time, temperature, cooling rate.
Perform microstructure evaluations — grain size, phase transformations.
Check mechanical properties post-treatment (e.g., hardness, tensile strength).
Prevent quench cracks, distortion, or decarburization.
