Overview
Senior Purchase Officer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Purchase Officer to manage procurement activities for an iron and steel manufacturing organization. The role involves sourcing raw materials, negotiating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, controlling procurement costs, and ensuring timely availability of materials to support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for manufacturing requirements.
- Source raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and other production-related materials.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain quotations, compare commercial terms, and negotiate prices.
- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, quality, and pricing.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials to avoid production interruptions.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Coordinate with production, stores, quality, finance, and other departments.
- Monitor inventory levels and procurement requirements.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Maintain proper purchase documentation, vendor records, and MIS reports.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in purchase/procurement within the iron & steel or manufacturing industry.
- Experience in vendor management, sourcing, price negotiation, and purchase order management.
- Good knowledge of industrial raw materials and procurement practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/procurement software.
- Strong ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple procurement activities.
