Overview
Store Officer
We are seeking an experienced and organized Store Officer to manage material and inventory operations within an iron and steel manufacturing environment. The candidate will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining accurate records of raw materials, finished goods, consumables, spare parts, and other inventory while ensuring efficient store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day store and inventory operations.
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantity, specifications, and documentation.
- Maintain proper records of material receipts, issues, transfers, and returns.
- Ensure systematic storage and identification of materials.
- Issue raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and other items as per authorized requirements.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of required materials.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/software and manual records where required.
- Coordinate with purchase, production, maintenance, quality, accounts, and other departments.
- Monitor inward and outward movement of materials.
- Identify slow-moving, excess, damaged, or obsolete inventory.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage or loss.
- Prepare inventory and store-related MIS reports.
- Maintain proper documentation related to material movement.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and inventory controls.
- Support stock audits and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of store and inventory management.
- Understanding of material handling and warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of stock control, reconciliation, and inventory documentation.
- Experience with ERP/store management systems.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and inventory reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to identify and resolve stock discrepancies.
- Good understanding of manufacturing store operations.
- Ability to work effectively under operational deadlines.
Requirements
- Graduate in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- Diploma/qualification in Store & Inventory Management will be an advantage.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in stores/inventory management.
- Experience in iron & steel or manufacturing industry will be preferred.
- Hands-on experience in material receipt, issue, stock verification, and inventory control.
- Experience working with ERP/software for inventory management.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing/plant environment at Bhilai.
